Nestled in the vibrant community of Comox, BC, Hangar 31 Cafe is a charming coffee shop that effortlessly blends small-town warmth with exceptional quality. Although cozy in size—with just a handful of seats indoors—this delightful café makes up for it with a generous amount of inviting outdoor seating where locals and visitors alike can soak up the fresh coastal air while savoring their drinks.
What sets Hangar 31 Cafe apart is not only their expertly crafted coffee but also the genuine spirit poured into every cup. Customers often praise the baristas' friendly, attentive service, with special shoutouts to Erin and Aerin, whose positive attitudes and creative flair make each visit memorable. Whether you’re craving a perfectly balanced Americano, a rich mocha, or one of their indulgent hot chocolates (made with such care that you might find yourself requesting custom variations), this café promises a deeply satisfying experience.
The atmosphere is cheerful yet understated, with bright and simple décor that complements the relaxed vibe. For those worried about convenience, it's worth noting that parking can sometimes be a challenge, given the café's location in a newer residential area. However, locals appreciate this hidden gem as their go-to spot to catch up, recharge, or enjoy peaceful moments accompanied by a delicious treat.
It’s also the kind of place that embraces the community in thoughtful ways—offering freeze-dried dog treats to pamper your furry companions and maintaining on-site washrooms for guest comfort. Their selection of fresh, pre-made pastries and cookies, like the famously creamy peanut butter cookie, add an indulgent touch that perfectly complements their sophisticated coffee offerings.
What truly strikes me when thinking about Hangar 31 Cafe is the heartfelt connection between the staff and patrons. The owner Dale is known for creating a welcoming space where customers feel like part of the family, and every visit feels like a small, delightful reprieve from the day’s hustle. If you find yourself in Comox seeking more than just a caffeine fix—if you want an authentic, uplifting café experience that feels both personal and high-end—Hangar 31 Cafe is unquestionably worth discovering.

I have been here a few times, today I went and the lovely Erin was working! I came in with a big order and she had the best, most positive attitude that was infectious, and it was storming outside, so this positive attitude, combined with her patience and passion for the job really made my day this morning. So thanks Erin, rocking it there all by yourself and double checking my order. Great customer service, I’ll be back 100%

Love love LOVE this place, I work at the barbershop next door and this is my go to cafe. Aerin is the sweetest, she makes the best hot chocolates and is always open to making something new, definitely make sure to ask what her favorite is because you can never go wrong with what she comes up with. The owner Dale is lovely and it's always such a pleasure coming in to chat. This is the business to support for 2025. Cheers!

This little gem opened around the corner from us and I'm delighted at how wonderful every aspect is. Barista's are so friendly and the coffee is always served at the perfect temperature; instant enjoyment (which is valuable when you REALLY need a coffee). Cheerful decor and it even has a variety of dog treats available for purchase. Thanks Rhodos for taking a chance on a little spot in Comox, we're glad you're here!

Great little coffee shop. High end machines for coffee making as well as their icecream creations. Location is in new residential condos so is more suited to people living in that area, which I'm very appreciative that I do. Great for my cafe rides. But if you're not a resident, then parking is going to be a problem. And indoor/ outdoor seating is very limited. But overall, especially if you live nearby, it's a very good place.

My kid loved her steamed oat milk (and I appreciated the minimal surcharge for oat!) The peanut butter cookie was perfect - not too dry, so creamy and definitely big enough for sharing. Americano was excellent roast for my light-medium preference. Simple cozy decor and lots of outdoor seating on this summer day. Will definitely return when visiting the area.

My husband and I were very pleased with the service and drinks we ordered (black coffee and mocha). We were even more please (and pleasantly surprised) to see that this place was open on a Sunday.
